Job Description: QA & Process Engineer (Metal Fabrication) Location: Brașov, Romania (On-site) Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled QA & Process Engineer to oversee our offshore manufacturing operations in Brașov. You will be responsible for ensuring that all metal processing from initial laser cutting to final container loading meets our rigorous quality and efficiency standards. You are not just an inspector; you are a system architect who will design, implement, and enforce the quality checkpoints and process methodologies required for world-class production. Key Responsibilities 1. Process Engineering & Optimization Workflow Design: Analyze and optimize the factory floor layout for laser plasma cutting, bending, and welding stations to minimize waste and bottlenecks. Technical Documentation: Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) for all metalworking stages. Tooling & Calibration: Verify that laser plasma machines and CNC benders are calibrated and that the correct gas mixes and nozzle types are used for specific material grades. 2. Quality Assurance & Inspection Quality Gate Implementation: Establish "Quality Gates" at every critical transition (e.g., post-cut, post-weld, post-paint). Welding Oversight: Ensure all welding complies with international standards (ISO 3834 AWS). Verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ). Surface Treatment: Conduct and document Dry Film Thickness (DFT) tests, adhesion tests, and RAL color verification for all painted components. 3. Assembly, Packing & Logistics Pre-Assembly Audit: Conduct Bill of Materials (BOM) verification and torque-check audits during the pre-assembly phase. Packaging Protocol: Implement a strict packing methodology to prevent transit damage (use of VCI anti-corrosion materials, edge protectors, and weight distribution). Load Validation: Supervise container truck loading to ensure secure lashing and optimal space utilization. Required Methodology for This Role The candidate will be expected to implement the following framework within the first 60 days: 1. First Article Inspection (FAI): Mandatory sign-off on the first unit of any new batch before mass production begins. 2. In-Process Audits (IPA): Daily randomized spot checks at the bending and welding stations. 3. The "Golden Sample" System: Establishing a physical reference point for finishing and aesthetic standards. 4. Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Utilizing 8D Reports or 5-Why methodology for any non-conformity found during inspection. Candidate Profile Education & Experience Degree: B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Metallurgy. Experience: 5+ years in heavy metal fabrication or automotive manufacturing. Certifications (Preferred): IWE EWE (International European Welding Engineer) or Six Sigma Green Black Belt. Why Join Us in Brașov? You will be the primary technical lead for a global partnership, working in one of Romania s most established industrial hubs. We offer a competitive salary, professional autonomy, and the opportunity to build a quality system from the ground up.
