Project Manager - Renewables
SMART ELECTRIC DESIGN is looking for an experienced Senior Project Developer to take ownership of renewable-energy projects from early-stage origination, Ready-to-Build (RTB), construction phase and COD status. This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong Romanian market knowledge, development expertise and an entrepreneurial mindset, and who wants to play an active role in building renewable-energy portfolio in Romania. As Senior Project Developer, you will manage the full development lifecycle of utility-scale renewable-energy projects, with focus on PV, BESS, Wind and hybrid solutions. Key Responsibilities Identify, assess and originate new renewable-energy development opportunities. Identify suitable sites and secure land through lease, superficies, easement and other required land agreements. Assess technical, environmental, permitting, grid and commercial constraints. Lead projects from initial concept through RTB investment-ready status. Manage permitting and coordinate interactions with relevant Romanian authorities. Develop and implement project grid-connection strategies, working with Transelectrica, DSOs and specialist consultants. Coordinate technical studies, including wind resource, layouts, electrical infrastructure, access, geotechnical and environmental assessments. Manage project development schedules, budgets, risks and key milestones. Coordinate external consultants, engineers, legal advisers and development partners. Contribute to project business plans, investment cases, due diligence and internal investment decisions. Build strong relationships with landowners, municipalities, authorities, grid operators and other key stakeholders. Monitor regulatory and market developments and identify new opportunities in Romania. Support the Country Manager in building a strong and scalable renewable-energy pipeline. We are looking for a highly autonomous and results-driven professional with: University degree in Engineering, Energy, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Law or another relevant field. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in renewable-energy project development. Proven experience in wind and or solar PV development in Romania; BESS experience is an advantage. Strong knowledge of Romanian permitting, land and grid-connection processes. Ability to understand and manage technical, contractual and commercial aspects of project development. Strong negotiation, stakeholder-management and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage several projects and priorities independently. Entrepreneurial mindset, initiative and strong sense of ownership. Romanian at native professional level and fluent English. Category B driving licence and willingness to travel regularly within Romania. Knowledge of QGIS, WindPRO, PVsyst, AutoCAD, RatedPower or similar tools is an advantage.
